چکیده

Background: Gastric varices (GV) bleed less frequently than esophageal however, gastric variceal bleeding is more severe with higher mortality and rebleeding rates. Treatment of (GVB) by tissue adhesive mainly cyanoacrylate glues has been used for obturation.  We aimed to determine predictors early in patients the first attack GVB. Materials methods: The study included 120 a GVB.The subjected thorough history, full examination, laboratory, radiological investigations. Child Turcott Pugh score (CTP), model end stage liver disease (MELD) were calculated. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy obturation (GVO) done all patients. Follow up during hospitalization 6 weeks after discharge (within 14 days) weeks). Results: Among study, 24 (20%) presented 19 (15.83%) mortality. Multi-variable logestic regression analysis showed that, Score was an independent prognostic factor associated It found current smoking, increased bilirubin, INR, creatinine, decreased albumin, presence ascites, CTP MELD scores are significantly groups, while lower platelet count only. Moreover, hepatic encephalopathy, transaminases group. There no significant difference signs between groups except that increase one varix. Conclusion:

Predictors of Mortality Within 6 Weeks After Treatment of Gastric Variceal Bleeding in Cirrhotic Patients

Acute gastric variceal bleeding (GVB) is a catastrophic problem and accounts for one of the major causes of death in cirrhotic patients. Although, N-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBC) has been shown to control bleeding effectively, it still carries up high mortality rate. This study aimed to find the predictors of mortality within 6 weeks after emergent endoscopic treatment with NBC injection. This retr...

Predictors of In-Hospital Mortality in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and Acute Variceal bleeding

INTRODUCTION Detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in cirrhotic patients remains a serious, unsolved problem, and the risk factors for acute variceal bleeding (AVB) in HCC patients remain unclear. This study aimed to determine the in-hospital mortality (IHM) and factors influencing the clinical outcomes of AVB in patients with liver cirrhosis and HCC. METHODS This was a retrospective, n...

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt for acute variceal bleeding in patients with viral liver cirrhosis: predictors of early mortality.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of our study was to assess the predictors of early mortality after the creation of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS) for acute variceal bleeding in patients with viral liver cirrhosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventy-three patients (56 men and 17 women; mean age, 51.3 years) with viral liver cirrhosis who underwent TIPS placement for acute variceal blee...
